Fermented in 100% concrete tanks and aged for 18 months in 70% new French oak, curiositas isan elegant, complex and lush, yet subtle, wine. Its tone of freshness evokes a Margaux-styled fragrant Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted high on Red Mountain these vines get full exposure to all the elements. “It is beautifully situated, with more vines doing less work, and planted with higher density,” says winemaker Ali. “It lends itself to complexity so how could we not take advantage of that?” Curiosity may have killed the cat but that’s why at cat has nine lives, right? If we had nine lives, we’d choose to celebrate each one with this wine.
"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Curiositas from this estate comes all from Red Mountain (Quintessence Vineyard) and spent 18 months in 70% new French oak. Up-front crème de cassis, lavender, mountain scrub brush, tobacco, and ample gravelly minerality all define the bouquet, and it's rich, medium to full-bodied, and thrillingly textured on the palate. It's a stunning bottle of wine that has the class to drink nicely today yet will evolve for 20 years or more."
