Izarra Verte Liqueur
This classic Basque liqueur has been used as a Chartreuse alternative long before the current shortage of everyone's favorite Monastic liqueur. While nothing is a perfect sub, this scratches the itch pretty closely. Made with more than 13 botanicals including nutmeg, coriander, fennel, angelica seeds and roots, celery, balsam herb (also known as mint geranium),elderflower, coriander seeds, black caraway (nigella), wild thyme, cardamom, green aniseed and wormwood. Multiple distillations, macerations and a final blending with green walnuts and Adera prunes, Armagnac and sugar.
