Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is a red grape variety that is native to Piedmont, Italy. Nebbiolo wines are often labeled by the region in which they are grown, like Barolo or Barbaresco. Nebbiolo wines are similar to Pinot Noir. Both varieties have relatively light color, expressive aromas, and fresh acidity. However, Pinot Noir does not have the same tannic punch as Nebbiolo.
Nebbiolo wines are ideal to age, sometimes for decades. The high tannin levels make them a little tight and austere in their youth, but provide enough backbone to make them particularly ageworthy.
