98+ Points - Jeb Dunnuck: Coming from a site in the cooler Coombsville appellation in the southern part of the valley and aged 20 months in 85% new French oak, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is incredibly floral and perfumed, with a red, blue, and black fruit core supported by spring flowers, violets, peppery herbs, and sappy tobacco. It's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, focused mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. The balance, purity, and elegance here are world class.
97 Points - Vinous: The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is a potent, tightly wound wine, not surprising for a cooler site in a cold, late-ripening year. Blackberry, mocha, espresso, licorice, gravel and dried herbs build through the powerful mid-palate and huge finish as the 2023 gradually opens in the glass. In this vintage, the large-grained tannins are pretty imposing. The Farella has a lot of potential for readers who can be patient. This is an especially somber edition for the Farella, which is also the most backward wine in the Realm range.
